Discover Colombo’s colorful charm — from its colonial-era streets and bustling Pettah markets to the serene Gangaramaya Temple. The afternoon is yours to explore at your own pace, perhaps with a walk along the ocean promenade or a quiet coffee in the city.
Leave the city behind for the peaceful countryside of Kurunegala, where a majestic hilltop Buddha overlooks the town. Enjoy lunch with a view of lush paddy fields before arriving in Sigiriya, your home for the next two nights.
Begin your day at the awe-inspiring Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rising above the jungle. Later, explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, including the Royal Palace complex and the beautifully carved Gal Vihara statues.
Visit the remarkable Dambulla Cave Temple, home to centuries-old Buddha statues and murals. Stop for a fresh, farm-to-table lunch at a mountaintop retreat before heading to Kandy, where you’ll visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and enjoy a cultural dance performance in the evening.
Board one of the world’s most scenic train rides from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. Watch as the landscape transforms into rolling hills blanketed with tea plantations. Visit a working tea estate and factory, then stroll through the colonial town known as “Little England.”
Travel south through Sri Lanka’s rural countryside, stopping at a traditional buffalo curd farm to see how this creamy local favorite is made. Continue to Tissamaharama, where you can relax and enjoy the tranquil lakeside setting.
Set out early for a morning game drive in Yala National Park, home to elephants, leopards, and hundreds of bird species. After lunch, spend the afternoon at leisure — a perfect time to unwind and reflect on the day’s adventures.
Journey south along the scenic coast, stopping to watch the famous stilt fishermen of Weligama at work. Arrive in Galle, where your hotel welcomes you with comfort and seaside charm. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore the area.
Spend a relaxed morning before joining a local family for a home-cooked Sri Lankan lunch, a true taste of island hospitality. Later, explore the historic Galle Fort and its lighthouse before gathering with your group for a memorable farewell dinner.
Before your journey home, visit the Victor Hasselblad Sea Turtle Research & Conservation Centre to learn about Sri Lanka’s efforts to protect its marine life.
