Ready to Go? Here's What UAE Residents Need to Know First

Greece is a member of the Schengen Area, a group of 29 European countries that share open borders. A Greek Schengen visa (type C) allows you to stay in Greece and travel freely across the entire Schengen zone for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.If you are a UAE resident holding a non-exempt passport (including most Asian, South Asian, and African nationalities), you need to apply for a Greece Schengen visa from the UAE before you travel. This applies even if you already hold a valid UAE residence visa.Greece Schengen visa applications in the UAE are processed exclusively through VFS Global,  with centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Greek Embassy does not accept walk-in applications.

Greece Schengen Visa Documents — Complete Checklist for UAE Residents

  • 1. Visa Application Form
    • Fully completed in English or Greek, signed by the applicant.
    • For minors (under 18), it must be signed by both parents/legal guardians in front of a visa officer. Copies of both parents' passports are required.
  • 2. Valid Passport
    • Minimum 3 months validity. 
    • Issued within the last 10 years
    • Must contain at least 2 consecutive blank pages
    • UAE Residence Permit valid for 3 months
  • 3. Recent Colour Photograph
    • Not older than 6 months
    • Size: 3.5 cm × 4 cm, white background
  • 4. Schengen Travel Medical Insurance
    • Covers the entire duration of stay
    • Valid for all Schengen states
    • Covers medical repatriation, emergency medical attention, hospital treatment, and death
    • Minimum coverage: €30,000
  • 5. Flight Ticket / Travel Reservation
    • Copy of flight booking, including return flight
    • If visiting multiple Schengen countries, a full itinerary reservation is required
  • 6. Proof of Financial Means
    • Personal bank statement for the past 6 months (stamped by the bank)
    • Salary pay slips/certificates for the past 6 months
    • Greece requires a minimum of €50 per person per day of stay. Showing €75–100/day strengthens your application
  • 7. No Objection Letter (NOC) from Employer
    • Must state the date of recruitment, job position, employment status, contract length, and salary
    • For self-employed, a valid trade licence copy 
    • For students, proof of school/university enrolment
    • When sponsored by spouse/parents, NOC + passport + a copy of the sponsor's UAE residence visa
  • 8. Proof of Accommodation
    • Hotel reservation, rental contract, or proof of property ownership
    • Multiple Schengen countries require proof of accommodation in each country

Book Your VFS Global Appointment

Greece Schengen visa applications in the UAE are submitted through VFS Global, with centres in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Appointments are booked online only. No walk-ins are accepted. Pinoy Tourism assists with appointment scheduling, especially important during peak months when slots fill weeks in advance.

Attend Your VFS Appointment

On appointment day, you attend the VFS centre in person to:Submit your completed document pack Provide biometrics (digital fingerprints + photograph) if required Pay the embassy visa fee (€90 / approx. AED 360) + VFS service charge (AED 88)

Track Your Application

Use your VFS reference number to track your application status online at vfsglobal.com. The Embassy of the Hellenic Republic, Abu Dhabi, makes the final decision. You will be notified by SMS or email when your passport is ready.Standard processing time is approximately 15 working days. During peak season or consultation-required nationalities, allow up to 30 days. Apply early.

Pick up your passport in person from the VFS centre, or opt for VFS courier delivery to your UAE address.From Dubai to Athens, it's approximately a 6.5-hour flight. Emirates, flydubai, and Etihad operate regular direct and connecting routes.
