Day 2: Shymbulak Mountain & Almaty City Tour

Start the morning with a cable car ride up Shymbulak Mountain Resort, where snow-capped peaks stretch across the horizon and the city below looks impossibly small. Back in Almaty, your English-speaking guide takes you through the city's best landmarks — parks, squares, viewpoints, and the Green Bazaar's vivid chaos of spices and dried fruit. Two completely different Almatys in one day.

Day 3: Charyn Canyon & Kolsay Lake

Drive out of the city into open steppe landscape before the earth drops away dramatically into Charyn Canyon — a formation so striking it draws genuine comparisons to the Grand Canyon. Narrow red rock walls rise on both sides as you walk the canyon floor. Continue to Kolsay Lake for the afternoon, where still turquoise water reflects pine-covered slopes. Overnight at a guesthouse in Saty Village.

Day 4: Kaindy Lake Excursion

Kaindy Lake is one of Kazakhstan's most photographed natural sites — a submerged forest where the grey trunks of dead fir trees stand upright in brilliant turquoise water, formed by a 1911 earthquake that flooded the valley. Morning excursion to the lake, then return to Almaty in the afternoon with free time in the evening.

      Unforgettable Natural Wonders

Kaindy Lake’s submerged forest and turquoise waters are like nothing I’ve ever seen. Hiking and optional horseback riding made the experience feel both adventurous and serene.

      Peaceful Getaway

The overnight in Saty Village gave us a chance to disconnect completely. The quiet mountain air and cozy guesthouse were a perfect contrast to the lively city of Almaty.
